Curated Commission Art

John's ZenFlyArt commissioned pieces originally began as commemorations of fishing experiences for friends and clients while guiding in Montana. Instead of catching and having the fish mounted, John was passionate about creating an artistic memorialization of the experience.
 

He began saving special flies (first fish ever caught, biggest fish, last fishing trip with grandfather), then painted it in his signature brush and ink style. He then mounted the actual fly along with the painted fly as a commemoration of a specific and special experience. 
 
John is available for a variety of commissioned work, whether you have a specific fly you want to send him to paint and mount, have a fish you would like painted, or you are looking for a different subject altogether to be painted in his fluid stroke style.
